A new case of femicide was registered this morning in the city of Luque, with the victim of a 32-year-old woman who was brutally attacked by her partner on public roads. The man tried to take his own life without success after the fact.
This morning, an act of femicide was recorded on Humaitá street, between Capitan Bado and Julio Correa, in the center of Luque.
The fatal victim is Carmen Ramona Mareco Fleitas, 32 years old, while the attacker was identified as Gustavo García Alarcón, 40 years old. Both lived together for 18 years.
According to the report, the woman was walking when she was intercepted by her partner, who decided to brutally attack her in the middle of a public thoroughfare and before the attentive gaze of several witnesses who were circulating in the area.
In total, Mareco received some 15 stab wounds in various parts of his body, which caused him a large hemorrhage that later led to his death. Passers-by and merchants tried to defend her but were unsuccessful as they were threatened by the aggressor.
After the attack, García tried to take his own life, making some cuts, although in the end he was unsuccessful in his task since the self-inflicted wounds were not deep, according to the medical report.
The couple previously lived in the town of Philadelphia, Paraguayan Chaco, and about 5 months ago both decided to come with their children to live in Luque.
According to what was stated to the SNT by relatives of the murdered woman, the man was jealous because she went out to work and study, leaving the house for several hours.
Last Saturday there would have been a very strong incident between the two, a fact that motivated Carmen Mareco’s family to remove her from the house due to the constant situation of violence to which she was subjected.
