Last Monday, minutes before midday, a Consettur bus, which was covering the route from the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu to Machu Picchu Pueblo, went off the road onto a slope, leaving 30 tourists injured so far, several of them seriously.
The incident occurred at 11:32 a.m. in the area known as Point 07 on the Hiram Bingham Highway, where the bus with license plate X0L-961, driven by Marco Chacmani (42), The vehicle left the road for reasons that are being investigated, and its front end collided with an embankment.
As a result of this fact, national visitors, as well as from various countries in Europe, Asia and South America were affected, having to be rushed to the Machu Picchu health center, from where they were evacuated by train to various clinics in Cusco.
Officers from the Machu Picchu Police Station, as well as prosecutor María Huacco, from the Machu Picchu Joint Prosecutor’s Office, arrived at the scene to carry out all the necessary actions to maintain order after the accident. It is worth mentioning that the driver of the unit was injured and was detained in Machu Picchu.where the corresponding blood sample was taken for the investigation of the case.

Other versions indicate that the dense fog prevented the driver from seeing clearly, so he failed to calculate the lane limit. Others emphasized the alleged speeding. that some drivers print on the only land route that leads visitors to Machu Picchu.
