Former deputy Jorge Coronel highlights the validity of a Law for the development of Lake Merín
Former deputy Dr. Jorge Coronel sent a document of great relevance for the future of the Lago Merín Spa, recalling that the area has a powerful legal tool that remains practically forgotten: the declaration of national tourist interest established by Law No. 16,593.
Coronel explained that this norm, approved during his parliamentary administration, not only allowed progress in the installation of the drinking water service at the time, but also enabled him to promote works and investments that continue to be demanded by neighbors without obtaining concrete answers. Among them, the port for sports boats, sanitation and an emergency health door operational all year round.
The former legislator pointed out that the law was conceived precisely to facilitate the comprehensive development of the resort and provide the area with essential infrastructure. “We must use the tools that the legislator himself created for Lago Merín and that today are forgotten,” he stressed, insisting that the regulations are still fully in force and can be the driving force for long-postponed projects.
The local community has repeatedly raised these needs, and Coronel believes that the declaration of tourist interest provides the necessary legal support to demand progress and promote orderly, sustainable growth in accordance with the potential of the natural environment of Laguna Merín.
