Tourist complex in Tulum searched for damage to the environment and biodiversity

Federal authorities conducted a search of the Santa Fe Beach Club tourist property, located in the Tulum National Park, Quintana Roo, for alleged crimes in terms of damage to biodiversity and the environment, for which reason the place remained under the protection of the National Guard (NG).
The Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) reported that during the operation carried out last Thursday, damage to the coastal dune, 14 platforms for cabins, four excavations for cisterns, three artificial water collectors, a construction based on of foundations, two industrial transformers of electrical energy, three automobiles and 14 cubic meters of wood.
The foregoing, the agency said in a statement, implies damage to biodiversity and the environment due to the removal of vegetation, as well as the use of non-forest land
.
The authorities managed to obtain testimony from 22 workers, which made it possible to identify two alleged perpetrators, one of whom has already been brought before the federal Public Ministry as a detainee.
Surveillance will be maintained within and in the vicinity of this protected natural area to prevent the construction of infrastructure that is intended to be carried out illegally.

In December of last year, the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources, through the Directorate of the Tulum National Park, closed the club for building on a coastal dune without prior authorization.
The search was approved by a control judge and carried out with the support of elements of the GN, the FGR and the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection.
In addition, agents from the Federal Public Ministry, the Federal Ministerial Police, official experts in the fields of architecture, biodiversity, photography and field criminalistics, as well as elements of the Quintana Roo state police and with the accompaniment of the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas.
