During the current month, the last XXL weekend occurred due to the holiday for the Day of the Virgin, on December 8, and the bridge holiday for sightseeing, on December 9. This extra long weekend mobilized 37,304 million pesos in expenses from tourists, of which the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME) knows that 1,215,000 traveled through the country.
Among the most visited tourist destinations by Travellers were found: Mar del Plata, the Partido de La Costa, Puerto Iguazú, the Quebrada de Humahuaca, Villa Carlos Paz, the city of Mendoza, San Carlos de Bariloche and El Calafate. The minister of Tourism and Sports of the Nation, Matías Lammens, said that “this December weekend closed a wonderful year for the tourism industry.”
In addition, he stressed the importance of Previaje: “hand in hand with Previaje, the sightseeing created tens of thousands of jobs during 2022, generating opportunities in every corner of the country. Driven by the arrival of millions of tourists from abroad, 2023 will be a record year for the sector. The minister anticipates a summer season “that will once again have very high movement figures.”
Regarding the numbers on sightseeing, so far this year, it is known that 12,479,534 tourists have already traveled and spent a total of 255,124 million pesos on their trips. These values show a very large increase from the values of 2020, the most restrictive year to travel due to the coronavirus pandemic.
