The “Missionary Tour” of the Misiones department was selected as the winner of the “Tourism Excellence Award”, 2023 edition.
The award was presented to the Minister of Tourism, Sofía Montiel de Afara, within the framework of the Madrid International Tourism Fair (FITUR).
The “Missionary Tour” preserves the culture, the local missionary customs and highlights the collaborative work with authentic gastronomy and the great potential of sustainable tourist experiences.
This proposal was presented by the National Secretariat of Tourism (Senatur), and provides broad participation from different locations in the eighth department.
Upon receiving the award, Minister Montiel affirmed that the department of Misiones is a destination blessed with natural, cultural, gastronomic attractions and traditions rooted in our people. “We are waiting for you to live the missionary experience, in the south of Paraguay,” she said.
This year Excelencias Turísticas awarded projects from 15 countries, among them; Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Belize, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Paraguay with the so-called “Missionary Tour”.
The Excelencias Awards were created in 2005 by the Excelencias Group, an international communication cluster. Its objective is to promote excellence in different fields, all of them related to; tourism, gastronomy, art and culture.
Since then, they have become a benchmark for all those who are involved in these sectors; who develop their activity always with the goal of being excellent.
