Totora Real Oruro could not enforce its home team and only managed to save a draw (2-2) against Universitario de Sucre, in the first leg of the semifinal phase of the Simón Bolívar Cup, this Saturday afternoon. The meeting took place at the Jesús Bermúdez stadium in the country’s folkloric capital, with the arbitration of Hostin Prado from Cochabambia.
The local team had a good start, because just 6 minutes into the match, Juan Pablo Gómez opened the scoring with a header, almost from the front line of the large area.
The equalizer came through Marcos Ríos (41′), who a few minutes earlier had replaced the injured Segundo Granja. Ríos himself (63′) was the author of the second Chuquisaqueño goal with a left-footed shot.
At 75 minutes, the ‘U’ was left with ten players due to the expulsion of Denilson Carrasco (75′), due to a double yellow card.
The Oruro team had the possibility of tying through a penalty awarded by judge Hostin Prado and the foul existed only for him.
Yonar Tenorio (85′) was in charge of collecting the maximum penalty, but his powerful right-footed shot was handled by goalkeeper Gustavo Claros and then the ball hit the crossbar and did not enter the Universitario goal.
When extra time was being played, Hostin Prado took a new penalty for Totora Real Oruro and the person in charge of converting this time was Alexis Bravo (93′), with a strong shot, high and almost to the middle of the goal. It was the final 2-2.
The second leg will be played on Saturday, November 23, at the Patria de Sucre stadium, starting at 5:00 p.m.
The other semifinal between ABB and Alianza Beni had its first clash on Friday at the Municipal Stadium of Villa Ingenio in El Alto, where the locals won 8-0 and have almost secured a ticket to the grand final.
ABB’s goals came through Brayan Espinoza (3 goals), Gary Rea (2), Kevin Romay (2) and Randy Barros (1). The referee of this commitment was Ivo Méndez from Santa Cruz.
The rematch between these two teams will be played on Sunday, November 24, at the Gran Mamoré stadium in the city of Trinidad, starting at 3:00 p.m.
