Torres del Paine park rangers accept government agreement and enable trails in the enclosure

Almost three weeks after the conflict began and after extensive negotiations, the Torres del Paine National Park Ranger Corps accepted the Government’s proposal -with contributions from Gore and the Municipality- and announced the opening of the trails in the enclosure.

Starting at 12:30 p.m., the trails to the Torres del Paine National Park and the “Cueva del Milodón” Natural Monument were reopened to the public. This after the accepted agreement that entails an investment of $2.900 million for officials, which will be used to improve their salaries and infrastructure.

The offer of the Government of President Gabriel Boric was presented last Thursday to the directors of Conaf, contemplating improvements in the remuneration of temporary wage Rangers.

This means that all those workers who work as park rangers and receive a -liquid- payment of less than $500,000 will have an increase in their salary from next December. Thus, the legal liquid salary will reach $500 thousand.

Said benefit will fall on 245 workers of the Corporation. In this way, those who are in grade 20 in the Single Remuneration Scale (EUR), will go to level 19.

On the other hand, from next November 23, in the region of Magallanes and the Chilean Antarctica, the stoppage will be lifted. From that date, the protected areas will normalize their activities and the park rangers will resume their usual functions.
