Senator of the Broad Front Lucía Topolansky will leave his place in Parliament on March 1when the parliamentary recess ends, as reported by El País and confirmed to The Observer the senator of his sector, the Popular Participation Movement (MPP), Charles Carrera.
Topolansky, 77, He notified his fellow members of the Front in a bench meeting on Tuesday about the decision., in the midst of the discussion for the bill that seeks a final solution for the mutualist Casa de Galicia. According to a parliamentarian present at the meeting, Topolansky gave a warning “pretty short”in which he explained that “She has not worked as she would have wanted in this period”mainly due to the restrictions generated by the coronavirus pandemic.
He also wants to open the way for a generational renewal in the front line of the Broad Front. His seat in the Senate will be occupied by the MPP deputy for Canelones, Sebastian Sabini, 40 years old.
Topolansky served as senator of the Republic in the first instance from the first government of the Front in 2005 until September 2017when he took over as Vice President of Uruguay instead of Raúl Sendic, until the end of the previous period in 2020. From March of that year she returned to her position as senator until her dismissal in March 2022.
