The Secretary of Commerce, Matias Tombolini, shared a lunch today with members of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), with whom he reviewed the current situation of the different production sectors and established a roadmap to provide predictability to companies in terms of inputs and imports.

Access to foreign currency for the purchase of imported inputs, the importance of promoting exports with added value and the current situation of the different industrial sectors were some of the topics analyzed at the meeting.

“It was a productive meeting, where the sector strongly requested that Argentina allocate the dollars it produces through its exports to production and not to the advantage of a few living, which is often to the detriment of companies that generate work in our country,” Tombolini said.

In this sense, the Secretary of Commerce and the members of the UIA reviewed the production strategies for the coming weeks, while they discussed the administration of trade for 2023, with the aim of ordering prices, guaranteeing supply and take care of the dollars that the country produces.

“We provide the Secretary of Commerce with a comprehensive vision of foreign trade problems and the most critical cases that we collect,” said the president of the UIA, Daniel Funes de Rioja, who assured that the objective of the UIA is “for the industry to have with inputs, spare parts and machinery, and in this way the production processes are not interrupted”.

During the meeting, the UIA presented a report on the difficulties that arise in terms of access to foreign currency to purchase imported inputs with a comprehensive view of foreign trade problems and the most critical cases.

The meeting was also attended by the undersecretary of Commercial Policy and Management, Germán Cervantes; the undersecretary of Policies for the Internal Market; Anastasia Daicich; the Undersecretary of Actions for the Defense of Consumers, Lucila Bueti Piorno; as well as members of the Executive Committee of the UIA.
