In a moving and tragic story that has touched the community in Zipaquirá, Cundinamarca, a dog named Tomás was brutally run over by an irresponsible driver who fled the scene without offering help.
The complaint was made by Eymi Canaria, a resident of the area, who through her Twitter account, @EymiYesCanaria, has been spreading videos of the incident in the hope of identifying the person responsible.
According to the complaint, the events occurred on August 11, around 8:29 pm, when Tomás, an 8-year-old adopted dog, was hit by a truck in the Cinco Esquinas sector.
According to the testimonies and videos published, the driver of the vehicle did not stop after the accident, leaving the dog seriously injured on the asphalt.
Thomas, a Brave Fighter
The dog is described by Eymi Canaria as a “very brave grandpa.” At 8 years old, this native and adopted dog has shown great strength after the accident.
Unfortunately, the accident left him with the loss of an eye and a fractured leg. Despite his injuries, the community hopes that Tomás can recover and continue with his life.
They Demand Justice and Search for the Driver
The community of Zipaquirá, as well as social media users, have joined forces to identify the driver of the van that ran over Tomas. They demand justice and legal measures against the person responsible for this inhumane act.
Even the expressions of support have not been long in coming. Eymi has received messages of solidarity and help for Tomás, from offering veterinary assistance to financial contributions for his treatment.
The community is still waiting for justice to be done for Tomás and for the person responsible to be found and held accountable for his actions.
