Olvera put the locals ahead in the 88th minute, but the Chilean made it 1-1 in the 93rd minute
The Devils are now waiting for punctures from Monterrey and Tigres to keep their place
Chilean Jean Meneses scored a goal this Friday in extra time to give the Toluca a 1-1 draw at Juarez FCwith which the team jumped to the leadership of the Opening of Mexican soccer. At the beginning of the sixth day of the championship, Meneses scored for the Devils after the Uruguayan Maximilian Olvera I did it for the Juarez of the Argentine coach Hernán Cristante.
The Devils dominated the game in the first half against a rival with defensive disorder, but they were unable to reflect it on the scoreboard. Juárez went for goals in the second half and gave Toluca a dance, but a couple of misses by Jesús Dueñas, timely appearances by the defense and good saves by Brazilian goalkeeper Tiago Volpi kept the scoreless.
After insisting so much, Juárez took the lead in the 88th minute. Olvera took a free kick and put the ball in the net for 1-0. Upon receiving the blow, coach Ignacio Ambriz’s Devils took possession of the ball, pressed forward from the center of the field and in minute 93 equalized with a header from Meneses after a pass from Colombian Andrés Mosquera. Toluca finished with 10 men on the pitch due to Sebastián Saucedo being sent off in the 98th minute.
Toluca reached four wins, one draw, one loss and 13 points, one more than Monterrey and Tigres, who if they win their duels this weekend will surpass the Devils; Juarez is in tenth place with 6 points.
This Saturday the UANL Tigers will receive Querétaro with the purpose of adding three points and jumping to first place, Pachuca will visit Chivas de Guadalajara, Necaxa will visit Cruz Azul, San Luis will face Puebla and Mazatlán will visit Xolos de Tijuana. In an expected duel, on Sunday the Pumas UNAM of the Brazilian Dani Alves will receive the Rayados de Monterrey, the champion Atlas will visit Santos Laguna and América will visit León.
