He Toluca qualified for the quarterfinals of the Apertura 2024 tournament Liga MX by rescuing the 2-2 home draw against León with a double from the Portuguese Paulinho, on Saturday at the Nemesio Diez stadium, in a match on the fifteenth day.
Colombian John Mendoza put León ahead 1-0 in the 15th minute with a left-footed volley from outside the area.
José Alvarado increased the lead with a shot against Brazilian goalkeeper Tiago Volpi, in the 57th minute.
Paulinho brought Toluca 2-1 up in the 60th with a header after taking a corner kick from the left.
The score fell to 2-2 at 87 again with a header from Paulinho that escaped goalkeeper Alfonso Blanco’s hands.
In this way, the Toluca reached 32 points and the León at 17.
At the moment there are two direct qualifiers for the quarterfinals: Cruz Azul and Toluca.
At the Alfonso Lastras stadium, Atlético San Luis beat Puebla 2-0.
