After the move by the Vice President of the Nation and head of the Senate, Cristina Fernández de Kirhcner, to divide her political space into two blocks so that one of these parties can form the third minority and thus be able to include Martin Donate In the body that can sanction judges, the discussion by the members of the Senate for the Council of the Magistracy increased.
After the division of the Frente de Todos (FdT) into two blocks, the former president and president of the Chamber of Senators appointed the official senatorsMaria Pilatti Vergara, Mariano Recalde and Martin Donate. On the other hand, the majority opposition, which is the Pro (Republican Proposal), included the radical Eduardo Alejandro Vischi and excluded Luis Juez, from the PRO.
Together for Change (JxC) defined then, due to the displacement of Luis Juez by Martin Donate, not giving a quorum even for the 2023 Budget that has already been approved in the Chamber of Deputies; also without JxC participation. A PRO source declared: “We are not going down to debate the candidates for the Judicial Council or to debate the Budget. We’re not going today.”
The same source added: “We are going to return to Justice, we are going to denounce that they (minority party of the FdT) are not the third minority.” “Who has to be the representative for the third minority for the period 2022-2026 is Luis Juez del PRO”, he asserted.
The Budget was approved in the Senate
Despite the fact that JxC did not give a quorum to the session on the 2023 Budget, this was not necessary, since the ruling party and allies managed to approve it in the Chamber of Deputies. The extension of Income Tax and others was also achieved.
The official senator, Juliana Di Tullio, described the opposition as not very responsible with the following explanation: “We come from a year, for the second time in history, the opposition left us without a national budget. They demand the plan for Argentina, but when we present the plan, they do not vote for us or they are absent in an irresponsible way”.
The taxes that were extended for five more years are the aforementioned Income Tax, Personal Assets, Bank Credits and Debits, Emergency on the final sale price of cigarettes and the Monotax.
