The office of minister Dias Toffoli, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), released a new note this Thursday morning (12) explaining the magistrate’s partnership in a company that sold a stake in a resort in Paraná to funds linked to the Master bank. 
Toffoli is the rapporteur of the investigation that investigates the practice of financial fraud at Master, especially in an attempt to sell the institution to BRB bank, whose largest shareholder is the government of the Federal District. The operation ended up being blocked by the Central Bank.
The minister spoke out for the first time about the suspicions surrounding the participation of his family’s company in the Tayaya resort, in Ribeirão Claro (PR), after the report in which the Federal Police (PF) warns of the mention of Toffoli himself in conversations taken from the cell phone of Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Master and main investigator in the case. The document was delivered to the President of the Supreme Court, Minister Edson Fachin, who notified Toffoli to speak out.
In this Thursday’s note (12), Toffoli’s office states that the minister is a partner in a family company called Maridt, which also includes brothers and other relatives. The text says that, according to the Organic Law of the Judiciary, the minister “can join the corporate structure of companies and receive dividends from them, and is only prohibited from carrying out management acts in the capacity of administrator”.

The text also says that Maridt’s stake in the Tayaya resort was sold in two stages: part to a fund called Arllen, on September 27, 2021, and part to the company PHD Holding, on February 21, 2025. According to the office, everything was declared to the Federal Revenue.
The note also highlights that the inquiry into Master reached the cabinet in November of last year, when Maridt no longer had any participation in Tayaya. The text concludes by stating that Toffoli “never had any friendly relationship, much less an intimate friendship, with the investigated Daniel Vorcaro. Finally, the Minister clarifies that he never received any amount from Daniel Vorcaro or his brother-in-law Fabiano Zettel.”

The PF report that mentions Toffoli’s possible suspicion in the Master case was delivered on February 9 to the President of the Supreme Court, Minister Edson Fachin, who notified Toffoli to speak out.
In a previous note, released on Wednesday night (11), Toffoli’s office stated that a request for suspicion made by the PF “deals with conclusions” and that the corporation does not have the legitimacy to ask magistrates for suspicion. According to the text, explanations will be sent to Fachin.
In the report, the content of which was leaked by the press, the PF presents quotes from Toffoli in conversations between Vorcaro and his brother-in-law, Fábio Zettel, who would be a kind of informal accountant for the banker. The conversations would be related to the Tayaya resort.
Toffoli has been the target of pressure and questions about his reporting on the Master case since a trip he took on a private jet in which the lawyer of one of those under investigation was traveling was revealed, back in December.
Subsequently, decisions considered atypical raised more questions about the minister’s handling of the case. In one of them, for example, Toffoli determined that the evidence collected in one of the phases of Operation Compliance Zero be sent directly to the Supreme Court, even before passing through PF expertise. He later backed down, despite insisting on choosing the responsible experts.
Then, the minister also came under pressure with the revelation of the deal involving the sale of his family’s stake in Tayaya to funds linked to Vorcaro.
