After several years of waiting for effective responses from its authorities and the international community, the crisis in Haiti once again reaches one of its most critical moments with the demand of its citizens for the resignation of its Prime Minister, Ariel Henry, after the elimination of the subsidy and the increase in fuel prices.
This decision triggered the uprising of Haitians at a time when the country is facing the consequences of a sociopolitical and economic crisis that has been going on for a long time in the face of the disdain of the international community itself, to which the Haitian prime minister asked for help and that tries to force the Dominican Republic to take charge of the problem.

In a logical attitude, and consequently understandable, the Dominican president, Luis Abinader, executes actions that, despite not being to the liking of many, justify the main purpose that any government should have, that of protecting its citizens and its territory.
Actions such as the construction of the border wall, the military reinforcement of the border, the prohibition of people who represent a threat to national security from entering the country, the temporary closure of the Dominican embassy in Haitian territory, the protection of diplomatic personnel and the defending these decisions firmly and frontally in international scenarios sends a clear message; The Dominican Republic will defend its interests and will not bear the burden of other people’s problems, at least not on its own.
the right attitude
It is important to maintain this attitude and not waver or hesitate in the face of threats, pressure and foreign interference in national decisions, as well as being consistent in what is said and what is done. Also, confront as many times as necessary that the Dominican Republic is not the only one that tries to protect its interests in the face of this unfortunate situation that Haiti is experiencing.
Revolutions generate changes and one of the best contributions that the country can make to the cause of Haitian self-improvement is not to hide the problem or try to minimize the crisis. Much less assume it.
