The Permanent Attention Office of the National District has reserved the ruling on the extent of coercion for Freddy Nunezpresident of the Dominican Federation of Modern Pentathlonand Aníbal Ozoriatreasurer of the institution, who face accusations of scam against the state Dominican.
Today’s hearing is decisive, since at 7:00 p.m. it will be announced whether it will be applied prison preventive or house arrest, in the case of Ozoria, due to his state of health.
The Public Ministry reconsidered its application of prison preventive for Ozoria for this reason, also relying on the indictments presented by the defense.
The lawyer of Ozoria, Olianna García Mateo, maintained that the implication of his client in the facts is slight, although he admitted that Ozoria acknowledged having signed some blank checks.
“We hope that today or tomorrow he can return to his town native of Nagua,” said García Mateo, reiterating that there are no conditions to keep it in prison preventive.
For his part, lawyer José Fis pointed out that the application of prison preventive remains for Núñez, given his good health and the fact that the investigation focuses mainly on the presidency of the federation.
Likewise, Fis made a complaint relevant: Karen Ángeles Florián, secretary of the federation, would have forged Ozoria’s signature to cash checks for her own benefit, supported by a certification from the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif).
“Freddy’s signature was forged on numerous occasions,” declared Fis, pointing out that the investigation should focus on Ángeles Florián as the main person responsible.
