Days go by and the rumors of a political trial for Sandra Quiñónez, state attorney general, lose strength. From the official bench of the Chamber of Deputies there is no firm statement on an intention to remove her from office.
Only Hugo Ramírez, deputy for the ANR (Republican Force), stated that he prefers his dismissal. The other 18 pro-government deputies do not speak out.
Hugo Richer, national senator for the Guasu Front, said that today there are no votes for the impeachment of the state attorney general.
“I am very cautious. Until I see that the votes really exist, I will continue like this. The Chamber of Deputies is a very complicated terrain,” he stated.
CHANGE NECESSARY
The legislator expressed that a large part of the citizenry expects this change in the Public Ministry, since there are many criticisms, deficiencies and proven omissions.
“A long time ago we raised the need for a political trial against the attorney general. Although that begins in the Chamber of Deputies. For this reason, in the first place, it is necessary to see if things have changed in the lower house”, he affirmed.
The legislator warns that the true plan of the ruling party must be analyzed if it decides to change Quiñónez.
“I don’t think they launch just for the sake of launching or they are going to put someone else who is functional for another sector of the Colorado Party. There the opposition will have to discuss a proposal in this regard because if we accept that only Quiñónez should go, but we do not discuss for his replacement, the country will be the one that loses, ”he said.
Finally, he urged the opposition not to get carried away by the Colorado Party’s roadmap.
“I do not trust these conflicts. This is not the first time they have fought. We have to stop following their roadmap because we will enter to play on their field where they always win, ”she concluded.
QUEREY
Jorge Querey, a national senator for the Guasu Front, like his bench partner, stated that apparently there are no votes in deputies, although there is still no official information.
“The variables that will come into play will be the positions of the ruling party, of the llanismo and the political decision of the president of the Republic,” he said.
Querey highlighted the silence of the ruling deputies in the last 48 hours. A fact that marks the fate that this new initiative to get Quiñónez out of can run.
“Undoubtedly there are conversations involved. They govern together, they fight just to gain more space or impunity”, she expressed.
VELAZQUEZ
Hugo Velázquez, Vice President of the Republic, reported this week that he will meet with pro-government deputies to discuss the issue of impeachment. However, because several members of Congress are still out of the country, the meeting will be postponed until then. With this, it follows that this week the order will not yet be submitted.
