The national leadership of Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas in the PRI remains in suspense. The Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF) has not yet discussed the challenge presented by the party against the resolution of the National Electoral Institute (INE), where it determined that the modifications to the statutes did not have to have been made during the electoral process.
Two weeks ago, the tricolor presented the challenge before the upper chamber of the TEPJF and the matter was turned over to Judge Janine Otálora Malassis, who last Monday circulated the project that she will propose to her peers in a public session of the plenary session, which will take place this afternoon, in which it is expected to resolve.
On September 11, the INE decided that it could not rule on the substance of the changes to the PRI statutes, a decision that was challenged by the party, and on the 16th of the same month the matter was turned over to Otálora Malassis.
Due to the above, Alito He continues as national president of the PRI, but only for a period of 90 days from the conclusion of the electoral process, that is, from August 28 to November 28, while the TEPJF does not resolve whether the modifications were made in accordance with the law.
The General Council of the institute did not go into the substance of the reforms to the statutes, because it determined that they were made during the electoral process, which is not prohibited, since article 34 of the General Law of Political Parties establishes that the procedures related to Its organization and operation are internal matters, but In no case can they be done once the electoral process has started.
.
As a result of that decision, the court has the last word on the issue, since the INE resolution indicates that the PRI failed to comply with the provisions of the law.
