The result of the approval of the Gafilat evaluation is the product of coordinated work between various institutions in our country, among which the Public Ministry is a key actor. The period evaluated by Gafilat was from 2015 to September 3, 2021, that is, the governments of Horacio Cartes and Mario Abdo Benítez.
“The Public Ministry ratifies its commitment to the country and at the international level, to continue in the fight to confront and investigate criminal structures, in order to be disrupted and brought to justice,” said Attorney General Sandra Quiñonez about the positive evaluation from Paraguay in Gafilat.
In this sense, Paraguay is considered a cooperating country with the region in the fight against Money Laundering, Financing of Terrorism and Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction.
This result is the product of coordinated work between various institutions in our country, including the Public Ministry as a key actor.
The Specialized Units of the Public Ministry that were involved in said tests are: Trafficking in Persons, Money Laundering, Economic Crimes and Anti-Corruption, Smuggling, Drug Trafficking, Organized Crime, Intellectual Property, Anti-kidnapping and Financing of Terrorism. These units are under the coordination of the State Attorney General, Sandra Quiñónez.

Some points taken into account to approve the evaluation were the dismantling of Organized Crime structures thanks to the deprivation of resources obtained from criminal investigation processes, which represented the recovery of approximately 20 million dollars, as well as obtaining convictions. significant in events that represent the country’s main threats.
After the evaluations that are carried out every four years, GAFILAT issues a series of recommendations in order to strengthen institutions and advance in matters of Money Laundering, Financing of Terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. These good practices are the most recognized international standard worldwide in terms of prevention and combat of these scourges.
