This Dominican Republic will finally meet the new members of the Chamber of Accounts after the recess of several days in the National Congress due to the tragedy that occurred at the Jet Set disco, which caused the death of 232 people and wounds to another 189, Senator Guillermo Lama, president of the Special Commission that evaluated the applicants, reported.
He explained that after being endorsed by the Plenary of the Senate, the new members of the external control agency of the state institutions would be sworn in tomorrow at 10:00 am
He informed that the 15 finalists who aspire to be said Chamber, were evaluated by the commissioners.
On the 8th of this month, after the tragedy at the Jet Set disco, the Senate of the Republic and the Chamber of Deputies suspended their sessions, so the choice of the members of the Chamber of Accounts scheduled that day was postponed. Initially the report was postponed for Thursday of that same week, but after the declaration of national grieving by President Luis Abinader, the pause was extended until this 22.

The lists
The first list is made up of Francisco Franco, Cesáreo Guillermo and Yira Henríquez; the second, Ferdinand de León, María Estévez and Emma Polanco; and the third, Charles Betances, Maribel Reyes and Francisco Tamárez.
Likewise, the fourth group of three candidates is composed of Rayner José Castillo Martínez, Edward Manuel López Ulloa and Ramón Méndez Acosta; and the fifth, by Claudia Catherine Álvarez Troncoso, José Miguel Fernández de la Cruz and Griselda Gómez Santana.
Discarded
Among the candidates to occupy a position in the agency was also the current president of the Chamber of Accounts, Janel Ramírez, as well as Elsa Peña and Mario Arturo Fernández but was ruled out by the Commission.
Emma Polanco sounds
Of the 15 finalists, according to El Nacional, the most voted by the members of the Commission is the ex-rector of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), Emma Polanco, who would be the president of the agency for the period 2025-2029. The university professor appears in the second list of those preselected by the Chamber of Deputies.
