The 70th version of the Marjoram National Festival has already started, the greatest event of folklore and culture that brings together vernacular expressions from all regions of the country.
Thursday was the coronation of Her Majesty Lucía Angélica Martínez Gesualdi and yesterday, Friday, September 23, the procession of the Virgen de las Mercedes, patron saint of the town, opened this great event.
Today, the great Marjoram Tournament begins with folkloric presentations from various provinces, marjoram contests, drum, written and sung tenth, accordion, shout, saloma and other costumbrista representations of Panama.
Tomorrow the great parade of carts will be held with approximately 30 delegations from all over the Republic, where the queen and her court will close this activity. There will also be bullfights, popular dances and live expressions of Istmeño folklore.
Framed in the patron saint celebration of the Virgen de las Mercedes, the famous Guarareño festival with 73 years of history, will have contests, exhibitions, decorations and the most representative figures of our culture.
