From January 1 to 4, the traditional Tunantada festival is held in honor of “Child Jesus” in the Main Plaza of the Huamalí district in Jauja, in the area located on the left bank of the majestic Mantaro Valley. On Friday, January 3, is the great Tunantada Festival in its maximum splendor with the participation of nine tunantera institutions, each with its renowned typical orchestra.
Elmer De la Cruz Gómez, life president of the Flor Popular Huarón Folkloric Institution “He was born to be better”, who performs with the prestigious orchestra “Amigos del Mantaro”, directed by the brothers, Andrés and Jorge Gastelú Mendoza and their group of dancers , invites the population to participate this January 3, in the breakfast offered by Marco Núñez Lino.
At 9:00 a.m. there will be a mass of honors, offered by the butler Rolando Barrera Gonzalo and family in honor of his fallen partners, a pilgrimage to the general cemetery of Huamalí. At 1:00 p.m. attendees will enjoy a lunch provided by the sisters, Carmen and Nelly Espinoza Morales.
At 2:00 p.m. there will be the grand triumphant presentation of the gang of thugs and the typical orchestra at the bullfight festival. January 4th will be the last day of the holiday.
