This Tuesday, December 10, the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations will debate and vote on the final report of the complaints made by former congressmen Daniel Salaverry Villa and Yeni Vilcatoma against the former prosecutor of the Nation, Pablo Sánchez Velarde.
As is known, Sánchez was denounced for the alleged violation of articles 39, 139 (sections 2 and 3), 159 (sections 1, 2, 4 and 5) of the Political Constitution of Peru. Salaverry Villa denounced the former magistrate for serious functional omission in the fight against corruption, an alleged inaction in the investigation of companies linked to the Lava Jato case.
The parliamentarian presented the accusation in 2017 when he was spokesperson for Fuerza Popular in Parliament, but in 2020 he withdrew it. However, the document continued with its processing
For his part, Vilcatoma denounced the former National Prosecutor for allegedly having diverted the normal course of investigations to clarify the payment of bribes by Odebrecht and other Brazilian construction companies to Peruvian officials. In addition, he maintained that Sánchez Velarde committed a violation with the appointment of Hamilton Castro as prosecutor in charge of the Odebrecht case.
The Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations will meet from 4:30 in the afternoon in virtual and in-person modalities in the Miguel Grau Seminario Room.
