Today, Thursday, November 21, five years have passed since protests and social mobilizations against the Government of President Iván Duque for the attempt to endorse a tax reform that was also linked to the economic situation of Colombians and several acts of corruption.
That is why the labor unions and other social sectors They have called for peaceful demonstrations in different cities to commemorate the protests from that November 21, 2019.

Fabio Arias, president of the Unitary Central of Workers (CUT), said that “this will be a day of national mobilization for social reforms, peace and unity, within the framework of the 5th anniversary of the social outbreak, convened by the National Unitary Command and the Confederations of Pensioners, Fecode, the National Coordinator for Change, the Minga of the southwest, the National Confederation of Communal Action, the Historical Pact, Unitarians and grassroots Liberals.”
He added that participation from union, social and popular organizations is expected.
It should be remembered that in these 2019 protests, the young Dilan Cruz died when he was marching in the framework of the demonstrations in Colombia that year, asking for guarantees from the government to access higher education. It was learned that he was a victim of the actions of ESMAD that dispersed the protest by applying the use of force.
