Today is the day of the week from February 13th to 19th, recalls the means of communication considered by many to be the most intimate of people, or rather, of listeners, radio is honored on this February 13th. 100 years of the Modern Art Week
The Modern Art Week, also called the 22nd Week, took place in São Paulo, between February 13 and 17, 1922. Exactly 100 years ago, the Municipal Theater in São Paulo opened its doors for an exhibition of painting and sculpture. , soirees and musical performances by the composer Villa-Lobos and the pianist Guiomar Novaes. This event came to be known as the Week of Modern Art, considered an official landmark of the modernist movement in Brazil. Among the main names are the writers Mário de Andrade, Menotti del Picchia and Oswald de Andrade and the artists Anita Malfatti and Di Cavalcanti. The idea was to provoke the press, make a lot of noise, to present avant-garde ideas.

Dates remind memory of politicians
Also on February 13, the birth of the doctor, writer, pedagogue and politician Carlota Pereira de Queirós completes 130 years. Paulista, she was the first woman to be elected as a federal deputy in Brazil, in 1933. THE EBC Portal honored her (along with seven other women) on International Women’s Day 2016.
The week is also marked, on the 16th, by the 30th anniversary of the death of the former president of Brazil Jânio Quadros. He was the last president elected before the Military Regime and stayed in power for only seven months. Jânio’s departure from power was the subject of History Todaygives National Radio Agency in 2017 and the from there to heregives TV Brazilin 2011.
February 17th marks the 25th anniversary of the death of the anthropologist, historian, sociologist, writer and politician from Minas Gerais Darcy Ribeiro. One of the main names in the history of education in Brazil, he was the subject of a special of EBC Portal in 2017.
