Today is the Day: memories of Érico Veríssimo and Maradona are highlights

Dates that commemorate the loss of famous figures are among the main highlights of the week between November 23rd and 29th, 2025. On the 28th, the death of Gaucho writer Érico Veríssimo completes no less than 50 years. Author of works that became classics, such as “O Tempo e o Vento” and “Incident em Antares”, his story was told by the History Today (from the National Radio Agency) in 2017 and received a posthumous tribute in the special Eric’s Continentdisplayed on TV Brasil in 2009.Today is the Day: memories of Érico Veríssimo and Maradona are highlights

On the 25th, the death of another notable figure turns 5 years old. It was on November 25, 2020 that the world said goodbye to Diego Armando Maradona. Considered one of the greatest football players in history (for some, the greatest player in history), he left his name marked by plays and controversies. THE TV Brasil has already told some episodes of its history, such as historic goal against England in the 1986 World Cup and the winning the World Cup that year.

One day earlier, in November 24, 2020, Brazil lost another personality linked to sport: journalist and presenter Fernando Vanucci. With his unmistakable voice and catchphrases, such as the classic “Hello, you!”, Vanucci was a reference in sports coverage and television journalism and was honored at the time by the Radio Society.

Reflection dates

The week also brings deep reflections on social causes. November 25th is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The date was established by the United Nations (UN) to reinforce the fight against a structural problem that affects millions of women around the world. The date has already been highlighted in Long live Mary (Amazon National Radio) and Reporter Brazil (TV Brasil):

Four days later, November 29th is the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. Created by the UN in 1947, The date marks the resolution that dealt with the partition of Palestine and paved the way for the creation of the State of Israel. More than seven decades later, the issue remains current due to the conflicts in the Gaza Strip. Last year, the Reporter Brazil made content about the date.

Health

There are also three dates linked to health this week. November 23rd is National Day to Combat Childhood Cancer, aimed at raising awareness about early diagnosis and appropriate treatment, which can save lives and bring hope to thousands of families. The date has already been highlighted in Brazil Agency and programs like Rio Magazine (National Radio) and Reporter Brazil (TV Brasil):

On the 25th, National Blood Donor Day is celebrated, a date to value solidarity, essential for maintaining blood center stocks and ensuring care for those in need. THE National Radio Agency and the Reporter Brazil have already talked about the date:

To close the week, we have National Breast Cancer Day, on November 27th. The date, which reinforces the importance of early detection of this disease, which is still one of the main causes of death among women in Brazil, has already been the subject of debate in the Brazil Magazine and in Brazil in Day.
