The Hoje é Dia, of the week between the 17th and 23rd of April, brings a busy schedule. This Sunday (17), the week begins with one of the biggest celebrations of the Christian calendar, Easter. The next few days will also have a national holiday: on Thursday, April 21, is the Day of Inconfidência Mineira. The date honors José Joaquim da Silva Xavier, better known as Tiradentes.

Also on the 21st, the federal capital and its main public university celebrate their anniversary. The University of Brasília (UnB) turns 60 and Brasília turns 62. The city has already been honored a few times in vehicles from the EBC. In 2016, the EBC Portal highlighted images that show that the city goes far beyond the Esplanada dos Ministérios. In 2020, the Reporter Brazil recalled the place where Brasília was built.
Commemorative dates
The week is also full of commemorative and remarkable dates in the history of Brazil. April 19th is marked by the “Indian Day” (learn how the date came about here) and for the “Brazilian Army Day”. Two other commemorative dates of the week are also directly linked to important figures in the country. April 18th is National Children’s Book Day. The date is a tribute to Monteiro Lobato, who was born on this date in 1882. In 2019, the Reporter Brazil spoke about the date and the writer’s biography:

Other outstanding figures are also remembered during the week. On the 19th, the player Rivaldo (world champion with the Brazilian team in 2002) turns 50. On the same day, the birth of ex-president Getúlio Vargas turns 140 years old. Also completes 140 years on the 19th of the death of Charles Darwin. On the 20th, The Radio MECbroadcaster of Brazil Communication Companycompletes 99 years in the air, on the 22nd the discovery of Brazil by the Portuguese turns 520 and on the 23rd the death of the militant Olga Benário Prestes turns 80.
