Today (29) ends the deadline for poll workers who did not appear in the second round of the 2022 Elections, on October 30, to present a justification for their absence. The deadline to justify is 30 days after the election, each round being considered a different election.
The justifications can be delivered at the electoral registers. The request must be addressed to the judge of the electoral zone to which the polling station is linked, with proof of the fact that led to the absence.
The fine for the poll worker who does not present the justification varies from half to a minimum wage. If the offender is a public servant, including autarchy, the penalty will be suspension of up to 15 days of work.
According to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), the foreseen penalties will be applied twice if the receiving table ceased to function due to the absences. A double penalty will also be applied to the presiding officer who abandoned work during the voting, without just cause presented to the judge within three days after the occurrence.
