Today begins the first simulation of the analog blackout in Panama, Colon and West Panama


The drills will be every Wednesday of the month of May and August 2022, and their objective is to prepare users for the digital signal and the benefits that Panamanians are already receiving in image and sound.

Starting this Wednesday, the Public Services Authority (Asep) will carry out the first simulation of the phase 1 analog television blackout.

Engineer Edwin Castillo, deputy director of Radio, Television and Radioelectric Spectrum of Asep, said that these drills will take place in Panama, West Panama and Colon, at 8:00 pm and will last two minutes.

He explained that users will experience a simulation of turning off the analog or traditional signal. During this period, messages alluding to the preparations for the total shutdown of the analog signal in the aforementioned places will be broadcast on the screens.
