The Republican candidate for the government of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, defended today (20) the expansion of the Bom Prato Network to fight hunger in the state. The candidate stated that he intends to double the number of units in the network in two years, if elected,
“We want to immediately expand the Bom Prato network. We want to double this network, reaching communities, reaching underserved areas of cities that still don’t have these restaurants. We want to do this in the first year. We want to add at least 30 more restaurants in the first year and 30 more in the second,” he said in an interview with TV Globo in São Paulo.
The candidate also stated that he will implement an income transfer program linked to school attendance. “We have 300,000 high school students who receive a scholarship of R$100 per month for 10 months. We are going to scale this up to the entire high school, meaning 1.2 million students receiving a scholarship of R$120 per month over the 12 months,” he said.
Tarcísio also promised that, if elected, students will be able to eat in schools during the holidays. “We are not going to stop providing school lunches during recess periods,” he said.
