The substitutes for Danilo and striker Neymar in the match this Monday (28), against Switzerland, at 13:00 (Brasília time), at Estádio 974, in Doha, for the second round of Group G of the Qatar World Cup , will only be known an hour before kick-off, which is when the official line-ups are announced. At least that’s what coach Tite made clear this Sunday (27), in a press conference.
On the right side of the defensive system of the Brazilian team, the options are Daniel Alves and Éder Militão. The first is a position player, but hasn’t played in an official game since September. The second is a defender, but also plays as a winger, having played the role, at some point, in São Paulo, Porto (Portugal) and Real Madrid (Spain).
For Neymar’s place, the choices vary according to the game strategy. Striker Rodrygo or midfielder Everton Ribeiro, for example, would be options to maintain the tactical design of the team that beat Serbia 2-0 last Thursday (24th), with midfielder Lucas Paquetá in a more defensive role, Casemiro’s side. If the decision is made by midfielders Fred or Bruno Guimarães, Paquetá would assume the role that was played by Neymar against the Serbs, behind the attacking trio composed of Vinícius Júnior, Richarlison and Raphinha.
“The team’s definition has already been made, but I have the habit, from now on, to pass it on at game time [risos]?? In strategic terms, you can make some changes in the behavior or characteristics of athletes. Militão has already played in that role and has the characteristics to do so. Dani is a builder, apart from his technical and leadership qualities. Moral of the story? I’m not going to say who’s going to play,” said Tite.
“The teacher [Tite] wanted to have the 26 players available, but we are confident and ready to show that the group is strong, well trained and ready to [resolver] any disagreements we have. In a World Cup, not always the team that starts is the one that will finish, either due to injury or because one is better than the other. Everyone there has an important role to play. In the last game, we saw the importance of those who entered the second half”, added defender Marquinhos, who also participated in the press conference this Sunday (27).
At first, Danilo and Neymar, both with ankle ligament injuries (left and right, respectively), are only out for the game against Switzerland. Their presence or not in the third match of the group stage, on Friday (2), against Cameroon, at 16h, is still uncertain. Tite, however, believes he will have both at his disposal for the next World Cup.
“Medically, clinically, I don’t have a place to speak, but I also have medical words. I believe we’re going to use them in the World Cup”, projected the coach, who, in training this Sunday (27), could count on striker Antony again, recovered from the malaise that had taken him out of activities on Friday (25) and Saturday (26).
Brazil must face Switzerland with: Alisson, Daniel Alves (Éder Militão), Marquinhos, Thiago Silva and Alex Sandro; Casemiro, Lucas Paquetá and Fred (Bruno Guimarães, Rodrygo or Everton Ribeiro); Raphinha, Richarlison and Vinícius Junior.
