Like a 16 year old using a video game console; This would be the experience of the pilot of the Ocean Gate Titan, who disappeared at 3,000,000 meters in the depths of the sea, since Sunday, June 18, 2023.
This according to the explanation given by the CEO of OceanGate, Stockton Rush, to a journalist from the CBC news network in November 2022.
In the video, which has gone viral on social networks after the disappearance of the submersible, Rush takes a quick tour inside the ship, showing the bathroom, various screens and ensuring that “everything is controlled with this video game controller. If you want to move forward, you press forward; If you want to go back, go back.”
Despite the unusual fact that this submersible, in which each passenger paid $250,000 to tour the remains of the Titanic, is operated with a video game controller, it is not the first case of the implementation of this type of controls outside of the consoles, since it has already been known that the British army for decades has had a similar control for the Challenger 2 tank.
It should be noted that the control used to drive the Titan can be purchased at a cost that does not exceed $40, however; Rush explained that this control was adjusted to be able to handle the submarine. He highlighted that it has a USB and Bluetooth connection.
Rush is one of the 5 occupants of the Titan submarine, where unfortunately the hours of oxygen have already run out.
