Tibisay Lucena passed away

This Wednesday the news of the death of Tibisay Lucena, former president of the National Electoral Council (CNE) and Minister of University Education, was released.

The information was confirmed by Vice President Delcy Rodríguez through her Twitter account. In the message published on the social network, Rodríguez stressed that she was a “distinguished daughter of Venezuela” and “a militant for life who fought her last battle without truce.”

He also extended his condolences to his family and friends.

Tibsay Lucena was born in Barquisimeto, Lara state on April 26, 1959. He graduated in Sociology from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV). Lucena was in charge of the CNE for 14 years. In September 2020, she was appointed rector of the Experimental University of the Arts (Unearte). Subsequently, in October 2021, President Nicolás Maduro appointed her Minister for University Education.
