“The Cuban side has confirmed its interest in registering branches of Russian banks,” Titov declared in the framework of the Business Economic Forum and the XI Meeting of the Cuba-Russia Business Committee.
According to the oligarch, the objective is to create joint banks between the two countries to finance small and medium-sized companies that operate on the Island.
“We believe that it is necessary to open large-scale joint banks. Today the number of entrepreneurs in Cuba is growing and they need their own professional bank that can support a business project, finance small and medium-sized companies. To this end, we have also brought our proposals, we have presented them to the Central Bank of Cuba and we hope for rapid progress,” Titov added.

“Now the Mir cards are already working in ATMs in Cuba. The head of the Central Bank told us that work is being done to adapt the Mir to the Cuban banking system, so that payments for goods and services can be made through cards. He said that this is not an easy task, but it will be resolved in the next month, ”advanced the businessman.
For his part, Oleg Savchenko, vice-president of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets, told the Russian portal paragraph that the banks of that country not only seek to open branches in Cuba, but also in other allied nations, which would serve as a vehicle to counteract the Western sanctions after the invasion of Ukraine.
“We are potentially interested in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Uruguay, Venezuela and others. These states are looking for links with Russia, since we are world leaders in food, including grain exports,” the official remarked.
