The Municipality of Three riversin Central South Fluminense has a new mayor. It’s Jonas Mascarenhas Macedo (Somos), Jonas Dico, and as deputy mayor, Arsonval Macedo, Liliu (MDB). This Sunday (5), they had 16,182 votes (40.19% of the valid votes) and will be ahead of City Hall until December 31, 2028.
The president of TRE-RJ, Judge Peterson Barroso Simão said that the election in three rivers was normal. “Voters have given an example of the civic duty to vote with order and tranquility, strengthening democracy. Judges, servants and polling stations are to be congratulated for the successful election,” praised the magistrate.
Of the 61,308 voters and voters able to vote in the municipality, 43,378 attended the 50 voting places. The abstention rate was 29.25% (17,930). White and null votes totaled 3,111 (7.17%).
The election passed without relevant incidents. A contempt was recorded at the 108th Civil Police Station, when a vehicle was seized for having an electoral propaganda sticker near voting places.
There was no need to replace any electronic ballot box in the 205 electoral sections.

Understand the case
Joacir Barbaglio had the management accounts as mayor of three rivers failed by the State Court of Auditors (TCE) in 2019. He disputed the sub judice election and was the most voted in the 2024 elections for the City Hall.
The candidate even obtained an injunction suspending the decision of the State Court of Auditors (ECA), but as the change occurred after the first round of elections, it had no value to suspend ineligibility.
Following the vote of the rapporteur of the action in the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Minister André Mendonça, the plenary reiterated that the case of three rivers is similar to that in the mayor elections in the city of Bandeirantes, São Paulo, in which the Court, also unanimously, decided that the date of the first round was valid for the documentation presented by the candidate to be properly correct in the Electoral Court.
The elected will be graduated on October 29 for the Court of the 174th Electoral Zone in the City Forum.
Diplomation is the act by which the Electoral Justice attests that the candidate was effectively elected by the people and, therefore, is able to take office in office.
