Three people arrested for reselling Qatar World Cup tickets

Tree men “of different nationalities” were arrested “for reselling tickets for the World Cup-2022 outside the specialized platforms approved by FIFA and the host country,” Qatar’s Ministry of the Interior announced on Monday.

“The detainees have been referred to the authorities in charge to follow the legal procedures,” the ministry said on Twitter, adding that it was eThey face a maximum fine of 250,000 Qatari riyals (about 66,820 euros) multiplied by the number of tickets involved.

The authorities also published the photograph of the suspects handcuffed and with their faces blurred. In front of them, on a table, the tickets, bills, computers, cell phones and car keys.

They are the first arrests for this reason to be announced before the start of the tournament on Sunday.

On May 10, arrests were announced for the sale of counterfeit products on social networks (t-shirts and caps with the World Cup logo).

Also, in early November, security forces seized a hundred counterfeit trophies that were to be sold online.

In December 2021, the Qatari authorities inspected a factory and confiscated a perfume that was going to be marketed with the logo of the competition.

Placing this logo on the license plate of the vehicle became prohibited in the emirate, after the auctions of special plates.
