The project provides for the construction, rehabilitation, improvement, maintenance and operation of the 526 -kilometer rail corridor, which connects the municipalities of La Dorada, in Caldas, and Chiriguaná, in Cesar. The ANI established that the concession will last 10 years and will have an estimated investment of $ 3.4 billion pesoscalculated as of December 2023.
The president of the ANI, Francisco Ospina Ramírez, declared that “Today is a historic day for Colombia. We closely close one of the most significant phases in the process that seeks to materialize an ANI association with private companies that demonstrate the greatest capacity and preparation to address this important iron corridor that crosses the center of the country and that will strengthen logistics , by railroad, through the Caribbean Sea. ”
