Three new cases of cholera are reported in the DR

Dr. Eladio Pérez, Vice Minister of Collective Health, confirmed this Wednesday three new positive cases of choleracorresponding to two girls 2 and 5 years old respectively, belonging to the same family of Haitian nationality, residing in Villa Mella and the third case corresponds to a Dominican minor of 10 years, resident of the Capotillo sector.

“In these cases there was no need for hospitalization, they are all at home and at the moment we only have one suspected case awaiting confirmation,” said the official.

While Dr. Gina Estrella, director of Risk Management and Disaster Assistance, announced a Health Fair this Friday the 24th in the La Zurza sector, starting at 8:00 in the morning, headed by the Health MinisterDr. Daniel Rivera, with the aim of recognizing the work that the residents of this area have done in favor of cholera prevention.

He explained that in the health operation there will be educational talks on how to avoid diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, among other conditions, and treatments for children and adolescents to prevent diseases.

While Dr. Ronald Skewes, director of Epidemiology indicated that in bulletin number 1098 they have been notified 6 positive cases of COVID-193 in the National District, 2 in La Vega and 1 in Santiago, placing the positivity at 0.5 of 913 samples processed, 35 PCR tests and 878 Antigenic Tests.

“These COVID-19 indicators, without hospitalization, confirm that the country continues with historical values, with a constant decrease from January 1 to now, breaking records and guaranteeing control of transmissibility in the different provinces and the 142 municipalities that have not presented new events,” Skewes said.
