Three new arrests for the seizure of 3 tons of cocaine

Three new arrests for alleged links to the 3 tons of cocaine that were intended to be sent to Afghanistan from the Simón Bolívar International Airportlocated in Maiquetía, La Guaira state, according to judicial sources.

Among the new detainees is Bárbara Gislaine Durán Aldama, identified as the person who allegedly paid the freight for the transport of the cocaine shipment. This person was captured by agents of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) in Valencia (Carabobo).

Another detainee was registered as Mario Ricardo Prado Medina, who allegedly brought the drugs in from Colombia through trails. Prado Medina was arrested in San Antonio del Táchira.

And at the Citizen Service Point located in Naguanagua (Carabobo), GNB officials arrested Daniel Alfonso Arévalo Chirinos, who is mentioned by other detainees as participating in the smuggling operation.

As for Lieutenant Colonel (AMB) César José Pérez Salas, president of the Empresa de Transporte Aereocargo del Sur, SA” (Emtrasur), an entity attached to the Ministry of Transport, this person was summoned to testify about the procedure. “He is not under arrest,” the judicial source clarified.

The drugs were packed in packaging belonging to the company Comercializadora Café El Faraón, whose owner allegedly fled to Colombia, but his partners are among the 13 arrested.

Once seized, the drugs were placed in the custody of the GNB.
