The celebration of Mother’s Day ended in tragedy for a family from Aquitaine who traveled to the La Peña sector of Lake Tota.
There, three minors aged 10, 12 and 13, members of the same family, were dragged from the shore into the lake where they died by immersion. In turn, a 24-year-old man, trying to rescue them, was also unable to get out alive.
According to information provided by the commander of the Boyacá Police Department, Colonel Heiner Giovanny Puentes, the children would be bathing on the shore of the Lagoon, being dragged by the current towards its interior.

“We know that upon noticing the situation, an adult, a relative of those under 25 years of age, jumped into the water to rescue the children, without being able to get out alive. Immediately, our units from the multimodal area arrive at the emergency site, rescuing three children, two girls, one 10 and 13 years old and a 12-year-old boy,” the colonel said.
The senior officer pointed out that the 24-year-old man identified as Camilo Alarcón has not yet been rescued.

In turn, it was reportede the bodies of the girls were sent to Hospital de Aquitania, to comply with the respective process, while at the scene of the events, the search continues for the relative of the children who tried to rescue them and who also drowned in Lake Tota.
The authorities advance in the investigation and in the accompaniment of the relatives who were in the place celebrating Mother’s Day.
