The general director of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (Caasd), engineer Felipe Antonio Subervíreported this Saturday that brigades of the institution are working simultaneously to correct several breakdowns recorded in important distribution lines in Santo Domingo West and Santo Domingo East.
Fault in the Extension February 27
Suberví explained that in the morning there was a fault in a 24-inch PVC pipe, located in the Extension February 27almost on the corner of the 6 de Noviembre Highway gap bridge, in Santo Domingo West.
He indicated that, although the fault was not caused by company that carried out previous work in the area, said company – which at the time diverted the pipeline – will assume the repair under the technical support of specialized personnel from the Caasd.
The official explained that the line was relocated during the construction of the overpass in the Isabel Aguiar Avenue corner Extension February 27because it crossed a lamination lagoon built for stormwater management.
Likewise, he clarified that the company JM, responsible for the construction of overpasses in the area, will be responsible for correcting the faultgiven the importance of that line for the residents of Santo Domingo West.

Multiple breakdowns in Santo Domingo East
In Santo Domingo Eastthe Caasd is also working on the correction of two other major breakdowns in 24-inch lines, generated by the new pressure in the pipes after the incorporation of a greater flow from the expanded Eastern Aqueduct (Salinity Barriers), which exceeds 136 million gallons per day.
Among the main incidents is a fault on a 24 inch line in the Mendoza HighwayLa Grúa sector, a situation that affects the water supply drinking in communities like Villa Effortamong others.
While the work lasts, there are difficulties in the service in sectors such as La Grúa, San José de Mendoza, San Luis, El Bonito de San Isidro, El Establo, Fuerza Aérea, La Corporanea, El Almirante, Los Solares del Almirante, Mendoza, Invivienda and the entire strip of the Marginal of the Americas. Also Los Frailes I and II, San Bartolo, Los Molinos, Marbella, Zona Franca, Brisas del Este, Brisa Oriental and surrounding sectors.

Fault at kilometer 9 of the Duarte Highway
Likewise, a brigade was sent to correct a fault in a line of 8 inches in the vicinity of kilometer 9 of the Juan Pablo Duarte Highway, in front of the National Police detachment.
According to the institution, this fault was caused by personnel of the company Malespín, which works on the modernization and comprehensive road solution of this important road that connects with the provinces and municipalities of the Cibao region.
The Caasd assured that the brigades will continue working intensively to restore he service in the shortest time possible and minimize the impact on affected communities.
