Three fires mobilize residents in three municipalities

In the municipalities of Pailón, Ascensión de Guarayos and San Carlos, three fires mobilized and alarmed the residents on Sunday, who had to use buckets of water, hoses, and work tools to combat the flames.​

In the three incidents, the effects were on grasslands and forests, but fortunately they were controlled before they reach homes and other properties.

The fire in Ascensión de Guarayos was of greater magnitude. The fire started on Sunday night and lasted until early Monday morning.. In the first instance it was said that the fire had reached a sawmill, located two blocks from the portal, but later it was learned that it only consumed a large part of the adjoining land.

Near the fire, church bells were rung, causing people to come together to fight the flames.

People were afraid that the flames fueled by strong gusts of wind would reach nearby homes.. Finally, a tanker truck sent by the subgovernment, in addition to machinery, made it possible to control the fire.

The fear of the people of Guarayos was that a disaster like what happened on August 14, 1999, when the sawmill was consumed by fire, as owner Pablo Barbery recalled, whose losses exceeded 50 thousand dollars.

Another fire that caused anxiety was the one registered in the San Juan neighborhood, in the municipality of Pailón. The fire, which started on nearby farms belonging to an agro-industrial company, reached a paddock, where the workers of the place did the impossible spraying water until the arrival of a tank car from the Mayor’s Office.

Finally, in the town of Santa Fe, in the municipality of San Carlos, the smoke that came out of a wooded area It scared the residents, who came out of their houses and with the help of buckets and hoses they fought the flames.
