Agents assigned to the Extortion Investigations Division of the Cicpc arrested Every Antonio Rodríguez Gaviria (30) and Jhon Jairo Márquez Vásquez (22), in charge of collecting the money from the extortion companies. They also captured Edwin Jesús Duarte Arévalo (55), in charge of receiving, by authorization from the criminals, goods, titles, benefits, money, among others, from businessmen for the cancellation of extortions, obtaining economic profits.
The criminals were arrested in the San Vicente industrial zone, located in Maracay (Aragua), and belonged to the El Flipper gang also known as Los Negritos de San Vicente, whose modus operandi was to intimidate and coerce merchants through death threats, shooting them and throwing explosive devices at their properties if they did not agree to pay them monthly and annually in American currency or some other economic benefit, the police report says.
