Three Cubans who arrived in the US a month ago fear being deported

The Cubans Pedro Yasmani, Raúl Santana and Daisel Pons, who crossed the Rio Grande into the United States since last October 17, remain in a detention center in South Texas, they fear being “deported”, according to what they told News 23from Univision.

“They picked us at random” denounced Yasmani. This Cuban said that after turning himself in to the Border Patrol, they separated him from the group of Cubans with whom he crossed the border through Mexico. In the place there are more than 200 nationals of the Island, all worried about his future. “Why didn’t they release us like the others? Nobody tells us what is happening,” he added.

Raúl Santana, another of the detained compatriots, thought that when they called him it would be to free him and he would reunite with his family, but they “handcuffed” him and transferred him to South Texas. “We fear that they will put us on a plane and send us back to Cuba without giving credible fear a chance.”

A similar case is that of Daisel Pons, who told the same newscast that “they did not conduct an interview or check” after turning himself in. “They only took me here”, the detention center.

These complaints occur a few days after the Governments of Cuba and the United States hold a new meeting in Havana to address the problem of migration, which continues unstoppable.

The exodus of Cubans to the United States continues to show record figures with a record of 29,872 who entered illegally last Octobera figure that exceeds the 26,730 who entered in September, according to data from the US Customs and Border Protection Office.

In the midst of the exodus, this week the death in a traffic accident of Cuban Claudia Suárez Pérez, who arrived in the US three months ago, was announced. “My girl had an accident and she killed me,” said the mother of The young woman, who did not identify herself, journalist Mario J. Pentón. “I would like you to help me bring my girl’s body so that I can see her one last time,” she added.

Yesi Boza, cousin of the 21-year-old girl who left her “five-month-old baby” on the island, requested the support of any organization that is able to help in the repatriation process. “Today it was my cousin, but tomorrow it could be any of our daughters, sisters, friends, granddaughters or ourselves,” she told television. America TeVe.

This Saturday it was also announced that the Cuban Marcos Cabrera, who managed to reach the United States, was hit by a truck while he was riding his motorcycle. “The doctors tell me that the brain had such a blunt blow that what he did was burst, as they say, inside, for many it is a miracle that the boy is still alive,” the young man’s father told America TeVe.

Due to the seriousness, the relatives are requesting help so that Cabrera’s mother can leave the island with a humanitarian visa.
