Three Cuban officials added to the list of repressors for the El4tico case

MADRID, Spain.- The project represorescubanos.com, of the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba, added three officials to its list of repressors for their participation in the process against the independent creators of El4tico Ernesto Ricardo Medina and Kamil Zayas Pérez.

According to a press release released by the Foundation, Roiner Herrera Piña, captain assigned to the Department of Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of the Interior, was among those involved in Medina’s arrest at dawn on February 6, 2026. The statement indicates that the officer had court orders and participated in the search of the creator’s home, where digital equipment was confiscated.

The organization also included in the list an official who introduced himself as “Lieutenant Colonel Parra”, identified in the note as “head of State Security in Holguín.” The Foundation assures that this officer intervened in the operation against Medina and that, simultaneously, Kamil Zayas Pérez was detained at his home under a similar procedure.

The third name added to the registry is Yamisel Hernández Rodríguez, group chief prosecutor of the Department of Criminal Procedures of Holguín. According to the note, the official communicated in a video a provision dated February 12, 2026 that imposes the precautionary measure of provisional detention for both members of El4tico.

The Foundation denounces that the case was “orchestrated” by State Security and that the creators are persecuted for exercising their freedom of expression with criticism of the regime. In its statement, the platform indicates that the charges attributed to the detainees would be Propaganda against the constitutional order and Instigation to commit a crime, crimes that – according to the organization itself – could carry sentences of up to 10 years in prison.

Represionescubanos.com stated that the inclusion of these officials is part of its strategy of documenting and publicly pointing out people who carry out acts of repression in Cuba.

This Thursday, the Holguín Provincial Prosecutor’s Office stated that Ernesto Ricardo Medina and Kamil Zayas Pérez remain under the “precautionary measure of provisional detention.” The ruling came after the Popular Provincial Court of Holguín admitted an appeal for habeas corpus in favor of Medina and Zayas – detained since February 6 – and will set a hearing for this February 12 at 9:00 am at their headquarters.

After the arrest at the beginning of the month, the two young people were transferred to the province’s Criminal Investigation unit, known as “Everybody sings.”

The Citizenship and Freedom platform considered that the admission of habeas corpus obliges “the Prosecutor’s Office and the Criminal Investigation to officially explain why Kamil and Ernesto are detained, under what charges and under what conditions,” which he described as a relevant step to document possible irregularities and open a means of judicial control in the face of a detention that has remained without transparency.

Since the arrest, a campaign has spread online demanding the release of the members of El4tico. Among the reactions, the Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz shared in his Instagram stories a publication by the user “San Memero”, originally broadcast on X, in which the imprisonment of the two young people is denounced.
