Film critics Berta Carricarte, Antonio Enrique González and Rafael Grillo were selected by the Cuban Association of the Cinematographic Press (ACPC) to be part of the voting for the Golden Globes next year.
According to the ACPC’s Facebook profile, after analyzing the individual applications, the organizers selected these three professionals for the upcoming vote promoted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
Berta Carricarte is an essayist, has a degree and a master’s degree in Art History from the University of Havana (UH) and, according to the page of the Havana Film Festival, teaches Film History, Asian Art, Audiovisual Language Appreciation and the Audiovisual Criticism Workshop at the Faculty of Arts and Letters at the UH.
Antonio Enríquez González Rojas is a journalist, art critic, editor and narrator. His texts have appeared periodically in publications such as The Cuban Gazette, Bearded Caiman, Cuban Cinema and Hypermedia Magazinepoints to the same site.
Meanwhile, Rafael Grillo is a writer and journalist, editor-in-chief of Bearded Caiman and founder of the literary website isliada. He has a degree in Psychology and a Diploma in Journalism and teaches courses on narrative techniques at the UH and other institutions. This year he was elected president of ACPC, aim the Digital Encyclopedia of the Cuban Audiovisual (ENDAC).
The Golden Globes expanded the voting body for its 81st edition, with the addition of 215 international voters, in addition to the current 95 members.
Of the new members, 25% recognize themselves as Latino, 14% Asian and 10% Black. In addition, 9% appear to be from the Middle East, 42% White, and at least 17% identify themselves as LGBTQIA+, according to the statement issued Tuesday.

The note expands that the voting body now represents a total of 76 countries, including recently joined nations such as Cameroon, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Serbia and Tanzania.
The Golden Globes extended an invitation to the Cuban Film Press Association, which brings together academics, journalists and film critics from the Caribbean nation. The action happens for the first time. according to Latin Press (PL).
