Three clubs earned almost 200 million dollars for their last appearances in Libertadores

From 2016 to 2022, Flamengo, current champion of the continental tournament, received 69.7 million dollars, while Palmeiras (champion in 2021 and 2020) received 69.4 million dollars in that period and the Argentine River (2018 champion) received 49.5 million, according to the South American football entity.

“Far away are the numbers of 2014 when the total prize money was 71.2 million dollars”, said the head of Conmebol, Alejandro Domínguez, revealing that this year a total of 301 million dollars will be distributed, almost 4 times more, between the Libertadores and Sudamericana.

Athletico Paranaense, champion of the South American Cup in 2021 and finalist of the Libertadores in 2022, les follows with 37.8 million dollars and Boca Juniors completes the quintet with the highest income between 2016 and 2022 with 35.8 million dollars, a statistic led by Brazilian and Argentine clubs.

The list of the first nine clubs in terms of prize collection is completed by institutions who have marked a presence in definitions of continental tournaments in recent years, as also happened with the Ecuadorian Independiente del Valle, current champion of the Copa Sudamericana, and the Brazilian Gremio.
