Three minors and two women were brutally beaten and burned by a religious sect of which they were a part.
Everything happened in the Kusapín community, on Isla Peterson, in the province of Bocas del Toro, when the leader of the sect was performing a ritual of the Mama Tata religion, he beat and burned the victims who were taken to the Chiriquí Grande hospital, for their own means.
After what happened, the Public Ministry through the Bocas del Toro Prosecutor’s Office began an investigation and the Homicide and Femicide section moved to the Ngäbe Buglé Comarca; while the National Aeronaval Service moved to the place to capture the leader of the sect.
The defender of the rights of boys and girls, Lucy Córdoba stated that this is not the first time that cases like this have occurred in the region, so she urged the authorities to take action on the matter.
