The presentation is the concert given by Juan Gabriel –whose legal name was Alberto Aguilera Valadez– at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in 2013. It was presented for the first time in this venue in 1990, a show that was controversial at the time because until then the venue was dedicated to classical music and there was criticism for a popular artist singing on that stage.
With ‘Juanga’ dancing on the big screen in the country’s main square, the attendees sang along to songs such as ‘Noa Noa’, ‘Amor eterna’, ‘Hasta que te conocí’ and ‘Querida’.
With t-shirts, caps, photographs and posters with Juan Gabriel’s face, the attendees showed their admiration for the singer-songwriter who composed for more than 1,800 people where he spoke to Mexicans and admirers of other nationalities about the happiness of a new love and the pain of unrequited affection, as well as about the grief of farewells and the celebration of life.
Eight years after his death, the native of Parácuaro, Michoacán, remains alive in the memories of those who filled the Zócalo square to see him once again.
